assist data at Sporting CP: William Carvalho

The Football League has announced the signing of Brazilian winger William Carvalho from Portuguese side FC Porto.

Carvalho, 22, is one of several high-profile signings for the English Premier League club, which will bring in a number of young talents to strengthen its squad.

Carvalho, who previously played for Portugal's national team, made his debut for Porto last season and impressed with his performances on the pitch.

He joined Sporting CP from FC Porto in January, after impressing during pre-season training with the club.

Carvalho's arrival comes as a surprise for Sporting CP,Campeonato Brasileiro Action which had been linked with him for some time but was unable to sign him due to financial constraints.

However, Carvalho's talent and experience could be key assets for the club, given that it has struggled to find quality in its midfield this season.

"William Carvalho is a talented player with great potential," said Sporting CP manager Antonio Conte. "His skills on both the pitch and off it make him a valuable addition to our squad."

The move comes just weeks before the start of the Premier League season, where Sporting CP faces many of the same opposition as their opponents at St James' Park next month.

"We are delighted to have signed William Carvalho," said Sporting CP director of football Marco Silva. "He is a player with fantastic attributes and we look forward to seeing what he can do for us."

Carvalho's signing is also likely to boost Sporting CP's hopes of winning promotion back to the Premier League next season, despite facing tough competition from other top-flight clubs such as Manchester City and Liverpool.
