Bayern Munich's Latest Injury Updates: Dayot Upamecano Out for 6-8 Weeks

Bayern Munich has been hit by another injury blow as Dayot Upamecano is set to miss six-to-eight weeks with a knee ligament injury.

The centre-back was forced off in the second half of Bayern's 2-1 Champions League victory over RB Leipzig on Tuesday night after appearing to twist his knee.

Upamecano, who signed from Red Bull Salzburg last summer, had made two appearances since joining Bayern and looked set to be one of the club's key players this season.

However, the 20-year-old will now have to sit out at least four league matches before he can return to action, which means he could also miss the start of the Bundesliga campaign.

Bayern boss Julian Nagelsmann said: "Dayot is out for six to eight weeks. We'll see how it goes but we're going to try to get him back as soon as possible."

The injury comes at a crucial time for Bayern,Primeira Liga Hotspots who are looking to defend their Bundesliga title and win the Champions League this season.

The Bavarians have already lost key defenders such as Benjamin Pavard and David Alaba, so they will be hoping that Upamecano's absence does not impact their performances too much.

Injuries can be a major setback for any team, but Bayern will need to find ways to cope without their star defender while he recovers.

It remains to be seen whether Upamecano will be able to make a full recovery and return to full fitness ahead of the new season, but for now, it looks like he will be sidelined for some time.
